Fun Runs 2007

Welcome! Below you will find links for the latest planned Fun Run. We intend to hold these monthly, in various locations around Texas. If you would like to have a Fun Run in your area, and there is a suitable field, feel free to EMAIL me with the information. Our next planned Fun Run is:

December 2007

I am unable to schedule more fun runs at this time. The facility that I normally use is requiring a large liability policy beginning in January 2008. I will search for another facility after the first of the year. If you know of a suitable facility near Austin, or further north or west, please contact me with the information.

PUPPIES WELCOME!!!    ALL BREEDS WELCOME!!!

You can either view the flyers on the web, or right-click and choose "Save link as" to save it to your computer. If for some reason you cannot access the links, please EMAIL me and I will send you a copy.

If you have never done this before....

Chasing a lure is something most dogs seem to truly enjoy. It is excellent exercise for them, and they get a chance to really stretch out and run. If you have never come to a Fun Run before, here is a list of things that you will need to bring with you:

A crate or exercise pen for containment. Your car is not a good option, some dogs will rearrange your interior in their zeal to get out and get the lure. Soft crates are not a good idea, they get eaten :)

A heavy well fitting collar that your dog cannot back out of. Choke chains are not appropriate, since some dogs will strangle themselves straining to get to the lure. Pinch collars (prong collars) are good for heavy pullers. Martingale (greyhound) collars are also good, as dogs cannot back out of them.

A heavy leash that will not pull through your hands.

A water bucket for your dog, and drinks/snacks for yourself, if you wish.

A tarp or shade cloth to keep your dog cool and out of the weather.

An appropriate well fitting racing muzzle, IF you think your dog needs one. Muzzles are NOT required.

Treats, if you need them to recall your dog.

    Comfortable clothes and shoes.

A sense of humor. This is a must, as your dog will occasionally make you look very silly.

If you need help or have questions, please ask. We don't bite, and are always glad to help out when needed.

Remember, this is for FUN. We will not rush anyone, you have as much time as you need to encourage your dog to chase the lure.
